i think i got the idea but i was wondering if there were any specific techniques for making a filter sweep on a part of a track

dont go over board with the resonance or you'll blow ya speakers!

You could do it hands-free.
Use dummy clips to automate the Filter, so you could hit a button on your MIDI foot pedal or whatever (as you play bass, guitar etc.) and it will do it for you!
