hey all,

the other day we synced two PCs (both running win XP Pro) with midi-clock, both running live 3.
first of all there was a delay between the two systems, which we managed to correct in the sync window of one of the computers. we kept playing happily for a while, but then noticed that the computers were growingly getting out of sync. so we synced them back together and again, after a while, they slowly got out of sync again.
now the funny thing is, we had tried it a week before already, and there everything was fine, without any problems, but this time we just couldn't go on playing because it got so annoying!
and neither of us reinstalled his system or made any major chages to it.

so what do we do wrong? or is it a bug?

there are a few post about that... i would advice that u use no synchro but your ears if both of you are at the same tempo on live then one start then the other start on the beat the synchro will stay by itself as the engine is really stable, if it gets off you can do a fast start stop to get it back in... that's how we do when we play live...

Hello,

it feels to me as if an other program is running on the slave machine which is using computing time on the CPU.
Check if no
- AntiVirus
- Firewall
- Systemaudio
- Network
- or other program
is running in the back.

Check if you changed from midi-clock to midi-timecode or vice versa.

If it was fine a week ago then here comes the standard question for windows: What exactly was changed on the systems since then?

You need to sync the two sources better.

Use a Philip Rees Midi Sync box.

Unfortunately, the timing does usually not depend on the app but on the audio hardware. But still, you have the "tap" button that'll allow you to resync quickly on the fly.
