I was wondering if there is a way to tell live not to save every take on a track, basically delete a bad take instantly off the computer instead of saving it onto the hd even if you know you wont use it. Id find this a very helpful aspect.

That feature is not there at the moment. The only way to delete the tracks from the hard drive is to use the file manager and to deleete the unused recordings from there.

Feel free to add your wish to the Feature wishlist section of the forum, there is a thread about the File Manager already.
