'Complex' Warp Mode Degrades Quality When Recording

I'm recording guitar loops in session mode via amplitube. My default warp mode is 'complex', and I have warping turned on only for the purpose of looping. I am not warping or time stretching my clips at all, and I still get a serious lack of quality when playing back the recorded loop. If I change warp mode to 'beats' I notice the clips sound a little better. This is disturbing because the clips should not be warping at all, I just want to be able to loop them. The recorded loops sound better in other DAWs like Sonar, and I'd really love to use the convenience of ableton, but I'm just not getting the same sound out of it. Are there any guitar looping pros out there that can help? Here is my equipment list:

Dell 3gz pentuim 4, 1gb ram
Windows XP SP2
Live 6
Audiophile 2496 PCI card
Audio Buddy preamp

use repitch mode.
Live has two methods main of warping (time window and frequency window)and both will hurt your audio in different ways, the only non-destructive warping mode is 're-pitch', which simply slows or quickens audio to match the required tempo. It is important to note that there is nothing 'wrong' with Live's warping, because any application which timestretches in real time will produce the same artifacts - but in Live warping is on by default. So before comparing audio between Live and other applications - make sure Warping is off for a level playing field

in your case you need to loop - so you could put repitch on, as it will not need to slow or speed up the clip because you are recording at the same tempo you are playing back at. So no alterations will be heard

the alternative is 'beats'. beats will actually be deactivated when the original and current tempo is the same. In fact some tests have shown it to be better than repitch .. weirdly.

do a phase invert comparison on a warped and unwarped channel of the same recording (playing at the same time in two channels)- if you hear no artifacts when the warped chanel is inverted then there are no artifacts.

This is a serious flaw in Live IMO!!!

You should be able to LOOP a clip without enabling any kind of warping.

Any tempo change would just cut the clip short at loop time and the start end points would be locked as much as you could still drag the loop selector back and across the clip.

Perhaps a new Warp Setting. "No Warp"

get in line (been requested many times, being debated right now in mr. ugly warp thread, etc.).

Its good to know that Live does no warping when there is no tempo change to the clip in BEATS mode. What's confusing is why warping is done when there is no tempo change in other modes like COMPLEX. Live should make it more clear when warping is being done and when it is not.

i agree ableton should clarify (i mistakenly used to use complex, because i thought it had to be better (using more CPU)).
