it will totally survive in its original box, but if ur keen on something a little more hardcore, probably look towards professional video camera cases.

I cut the foam outta the cardboard inner box it came in and glued it up inside a fairly road sturdy cd deck and mixer box from samash.
fits the lappy as well I might add.
And when you get it to the show you flip the box over on a keyboard stand and voila, instant table to rock your set on, correct hight I might add.
No laptop artist back for the rest of the night

That sounds cool man.. however it doesn't sound like it could withstand being thrown around in the baggage hold, as it would be too big for carry-on.

true,
you'd probably want an ata approved case then

Look into something like a trumpet or flute case from SKB, those are ATA approved cases. Not saying those two are the size you want, but look at the prchestral cases they have. Lots of weird sizes that might work, and you can always use the original foam from your box if you needed a perfect fit.

Well I've been doing some thinking..
Since I want to get both my machinedrum and this beast on as carryon baggage, I think I may try finding a small keyboard bag that fits like a microkorg or something, and then the pelican case I already have for the machinedrum. Put both of those in the smallest duffel bag I can find, and have them treated as one.
Then I'll just have my laptop bag with me and I'll be golden.
(I think :D )

that should work, yeah I'd keep the laptop out of the baggage hold, too many things could go wrong with that imo.
let us know what you do, I might need this as well soon
