hey i was wondering,

when you upgrade from eg live 6.2.1 to 6.5, do you delete 6.2.1 first or does it do that stuff automatically

thanks/ ourapollo

There's no tidy-up. They get installed side-by-side. You can uninstall the older version if you like.
e.g. on my machine there is now:
C:\Program Files\Ableton\Live 6.0.3
and
C:\Program Files\Ableton\Live 6.0.5
It's probably a good idea in case you don't like what you see and want to step back a version.

There will be a set of 'Application Data' for each installation too.
(C:\Documents and Settings\yourName\Application Data\Ableton\blah)

Live Packs get installed automatically when you start the new version and it picks up your existing prefs, etc.

all right
if you uninstall it does it still save your racks that youve made when you install the new version?

I haven't had chance to play much but all that stuff is in your Library, yeah?
Both my installed versions point to the same Library...unless I configure it differently! The Library is not really part of the installation.

Of course, we're all safely backed-up, right? ;-)

Not backing up is even harder work when said shit hits fan.

And it will sooner or later.

I just back up my most important files to another hard drive, mainly all my reason rns's and livesets and my core sample library. Not fail safe by any means but it gives me peace of mind anyway.
