extra location beyond the Library to store/access samples

This has been discussed before, and i was hoping 6.0.5 would provide this: alternate locations (apart from the main library) to store samples etc. 6.0.5 doesn't seem to have come to the rescue.

It's great to have the core working set of samples on the main dirve, but especially for those of us stuck with smaller laptop drives (you know, 120 gigs) it would be SWEET to be able to EASILY store/access other samples - especially the essential insturments and other live packs - from a separate drive.

I can do this with other music software - this seems one odd weakness with Live.

I have no problem keeping my live library on a different drive, than my main drive.

I simply copied my library to another drive, then changed the settings in the preferences.

done simple as pie.

I have not been clear enough:

The desire is to keep the main library from ableton on one drive (say the laptop) so that core work can be done on the laptop with the main samples, and then to have Essential Instruments (and other live packs with their gigs and gigs of space) on another drive, for additional sounds etc work.

In other words, split the library into two sections: primary source and secondary sources.
