Midi sync problems...

Hi,

I want to use Live3 as Midisync master to sync my Doepfer Regelwerk sequenzer and a TR-606 connected to the DIN sync port of the Regelwerk.

Everything works find when using Cubase SX2 as Midiclock master, but when using Live3 the Regelwerk make some pauses/stutter and the TR-606 too.

As I said, everything works find when using Cubase SX2 as a master so I suspect the problem must be somewhere inside Live3.

I'm using a Motu MidiExpress 128 on Powermac G5 Dual 2GHz, running MacOS 10.3.1.

hey, i have absolutely the same problem. i want to synchronise my tb303 via a doepfer msy1 and also my xbase09 and there is no way. i recognised if slow down the tempo to 100 bpm and i only use 1 audio track, then it's almost in sync for a longer time. but if there are more audio-files in use the midi-clock is getting more and more out of sync. in the beginning i thought it my cpu (powerbook g4 titanium 800 mhz) but when i saw that you are using a g5 with 2ghz i was sure it's not the cpu.

so please ableton help me!! i have to play live on stage at 31.12.03

thanx in andvance and... staychill

syncing live to Echoplex

Hi,

I talked to Brad at Midiman about a week ago about problems syncing live 3.0 to my Gibson Echoplex Digital Pro, with the Echoplex as the MIDI time clock master. The audio that I record into live as a loop has a stutter or several stutters throughout the loop. Plus the stutters occur at different times each time the loop repeats.

This doesn't happen when I use Live by itself without syncing it to another machine.

I tried syncing Live to another drum machine -- same problem.

I've tried it on my Powerbook G4, 1GHz, 256 Ram, OS 10.3.1 with Digidesign 002rack, plus Midisport 2X2. Tried both Direct IO and Core Audio drivers. Tried all FX on and off. Tried 002's midi port by itself, and Midiman Midisport by itself. Tried various buffer sizes.

I've tried it on my PC Desktop, P4 1.6GHz, 256 ram, Windows XP, with Digidesign 001, plus Midisport 2X2. Tried both Direct IO and ASIO drivers. Tried various buffer sizes. Same problem.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
mike

I use Live. I use Live, live!! I use Live, live, with two sets that don't have ONE "preloops samples shit" prepared beforehand. They are all played "live" into clips/effects/dealys and retriggered/layered using instruments (virtual and "real") played live.

I know! Amazing isn't it oh wise one? When you sit down one day and put your brain in gear you may work out what the possibilities are with something like Live. It doesn't "have" to be all "preloops samples shit" although guess what?? A lot of people do!! And it sells software!!! And it also makes pratts like you feel superior because you have magically tapped into the true source of where all music hould come from that we mere plebians couldn't possibly work out for ourselves.

I have the same MIDI sync problems. Using a PowerBook G4 867 with 640 MB of RAM and the bundled UC-33 USB controller/MIDI I/O.
Sound card is EMI 26 USB.

What's going on here? What's the use of live if MIDI sync doesn't work?!?

same thing

I was trying to run a simple midi clock out to an alesis sr-16. Well that didnt last long. My band didnt appreciate the click track stuttering let alone the music.

It just took Ableton out of the playing field for "live" use. What the hell good is it if it cant provide a click track. Jeez

Im running a brand new laptop toshiba pentium 4, 2.8 ghz at 512 ram. Usb midi out though
