I have a nice chunky kick which sounds fine in the intro and outro but gets lost in the middle when combined with the synths, I want to make it punch through, is sidechaining compression the answer? does anyone recommend a good one for Ableton? I was looking at Quantum FX Sidedyn

thanks

Side chaining will help. But it also gives you a pumping vibe which is cool if that's what you want.

EQ and panning are your friends. You're describing "low mid mud". Each instrument needs to have it's own space for clarity. Try cutting a little low end off the synths you're using and pan each a little off center so the kick has it's own space.

Yes use compresor and play with the EQ.Basicly Kick and bass, bost or cut Freq if the they hit in the same frequensies.Sidechain helps too.
Sorry i dont know any.
I also look for a sidechain compresor for mac UB but a free one.
