help wierd problems midi sync and x-station

hi,
i have an x-station, got a new laptop sony vaio dual core 2gb ram monster, and i have installed live 6 on my new laptop but cant seem to get my x-station to work properly. ive installed the latest (well only ones i can find) of the novation website.
in the preferences in live it will not recognize the midi in for the x-station, its saying its there but cannot start, midi out works fine no problems just cant use the sliders to control live... wierd....
i uninstalled the nocation drivers and installed asio4all but still having exactly the same problem, i tried uninstall and reinstall live and all drivers but no luck...
funny thing is that it works in cubase and any other application i try...
any ideas anyone please
