How to assign midi to preset changes??

Hi,
I would like to know if it's possible to change the presets of a plugin like Amplitube and assign midi to it..

In other words, can I just have one track with the loaded plugin and changing its presets (using a pedal board or the keyboard) during a live performance??

Right now I loaded 4 times the plugin in 4 different tracks and assigned a midi command to "record enable" that specific track..
But of course that doesn't seems to be the way to go, since CPU is getting high..

Anybody could tell me in few steps how to solve this problem?
Can't find it in the manual..

Many thanks

Usually you can, I don't think it can be done in Amplitube, I just tried.

Usually you look in the Clip View at the Notes Box and find the bank/sub bank/program boxes, with those you can send program changes, I've done it with other VSTs.

Problem is, audio clips don't have those boxes and if you put amplitube in a MIDI track it needs an instrument in front of it in clip view. I tried a sidechain compressor and passed the guitar from an audio track into that, but no dice.

odd.

Can you have 1 MIDI track that takes the input, and outputs to the audio track specified to connect to Amplitube?

That's why I tried a sidechain compressor, to get a signal routed into a midi track, no dice. There wasn't a compressor setting to get just the sidechain to play without the main. It was a long shot but had to try something.
