Hi. I seem to recall that in previous versions of Live (pre 6), if you dragged a clip into a different folder in the browser in session view, it showed up on one single browser line marked with the icon of a Live Clip, as opposed to the actual sample.

I find that in Live 6, if I do this I wind up with two lines in the browser - a folder icon referencing the original Live Project, and then the Live Clip within that.

Is there any way (preferences? settings?) where I can just get it to show up without the folder of the original project? Just a plain Live Clip?

Sorry if this has been covered before. I've read the manual, tried various approaches. The only way I can see around it is to save copies of the original file in multiple folders, but I'd like not to waste disk space if I can help it. Maybe there's no way to keep the browser uncluttered in this way, but I wanted to ask.

create a folder for your clips actually within the Live Library and drag them there.........

live 6 has a new project management system that in theory makes file organization easier...which for one means that every piece of live related info has to be part of a project that is contained within a project folder. so, when you drag a clip, its creating a project folder for the clip's new life outside of the current project. to get around this you have to make any folder where you want to keep clips a project folder. do this by saving a new set, which in turn creates a new project folder...replace the non-project folder where you want to keep clips with this new project folder and you should be good to go. also, you can get into the habit of managing all your clips inside the live library...confusing? no doubt. search the forums and you'll find many users baffled by this new, esay to use file management system.
