Two Apple Computers un-Sync using Ableton & OSX Midi Network

Ok i'm sure everyone knows that in OS X tiger there is a function called MIDI network that you can plug two computers in to eachother using a eithernet cable and sync those two computers up in programs like Ableton. Well that's what i've been doing and it works nice for about 2 hours and then after that my laptop becomes un-sync'd. So it makes it hard for a five hour gig
Has anyone had this problem or can help me?

I didn't get along with Tiger MIDI networking. I'm sure a lot of guys are having good luck with it.
I decided to use two MIDI interfaces (which were being used anyway), and haven't had a problem since, although I use two separate MIDI ports - one for sync, and the other for MIDI data.

i did it for awhile, but i don't do 5 hour sets, so i never experienced any problems.
personally, i thought it was too much of a pain in the ass compared to using a standard midi/connection/ cable, so i ditched it. at least the midi settings are kept in preferences, so it's plug and play. establishing network connection every time is too time consuming, not to mention re-connecting should something happen mid set.

Well it's not that's even too time consuming, it's just that it dosent work
You would
think that if apple implemented an internal midi system that it would work? How hard
could it be... just keeping two computers at the same BPM?
So I guess my best bet is to just use two midi in/out interfaces ??? Ugggg its 2007!
shouldn't MIDI be dead yet??? I can't believe there is no other way to do this???

I agree there is a new method of syncing and note on off etc. can't remember what it is called. 2007 something new is needed

It's called OSC. The only problem is getting the major manufacturers to use it. For that to happen everyone needs to be asking about compatibility. That's the only way manufacturers will even look at it.
It's necessary if we want to start making and using the next generation of musical interfaces.
