Where to go in San Francisco??

Post by Krugger » Tue Mar 20, 2007 4:13 pm

Hi guys,

I'm in San Francisco from Friday 23rd to Thu 29th (but flying out Thu).

Staying at Ramada Plaza SF (Mission Street?) - just to give you an idea of my whereabouts.

Got the whole 23rd-25th week-end to myself then busy with a conference Mon 26th - Wed 28th (free Wed night)

Where should I go?

I'll be on my own, no work colleagues and don't want to areas where everybody seems to have known each other for the past 27 years and I'm like an OBVIOUS billy-no-mates!

Somewhere nice, good music (preferably tech house or similar) and somewhere i can stay till (say) 2am

Ideas please and much appreciated - thanks!

The Trocadero
520 4th St (between Bryant and Brannan)
415.437.4446 event line

Wednesday is fun fun S&M night. Lot of leather, whips, chains, and in the S&M "stations" there are women being beaten while getting off on vibrators. It's a family event.

If you like vegetarian food, there is an EXCELLENT restaurant - Ananda Fuara - at Market & Hayes.

What were you told?

Lower Haight for bars definitely, most of them around there are beer and wine only, a few serve hard alcohol. Toronado has a great beer selection and you can bring in sausage from next door (great place) or pizza (also good).

http://sanfrancisco.citysearch.com/ for what's up.
www.craigslist.com for more locals info

Venues - DNA Lounge, Slims, Fillmore, Warfield, Elbo Room... I'm spacing on naming more.

The "End Up" is one of the longest running after hours (4am) spots in the city, it's a mixed gay-straight freak show, crazy f-ing place.

Add to those the Independent, Cafe Du Nord, Bottom of the Hill, Edinburgh Castle... for shows.

Def pick up a Guardian when you land, free weekly rag, and check out the listings.

On Wednesday night, you can check out Qool at 111 Minna. Good tunes, Spesh plays there on a regular basis. That goes from happy hour until 9:00 or so. Then people head over to Anu on 6th street for Satellite SF. Often times they have pretty large names playing in a bar/lounge environment.

More cool clubs : Six, the Make Out Room.

Best zone of the city for hanging out, for my money : Valencia Street (plus you got the Elbo Room and the Make Out Room right there)

Have fun, there are many flavours to the city.

Justice is playin at Mezzanine on Saturday if you're still alive after Friday. It's the Ed Banger Tour. Busy P is playin too with a few others. Mezzanine is a loud big bangin place. That should be a wild show.
