Perhaps a simple Ableton version of a pitch-manipulation signal plugin? For example, like Antares Autotune or Yamaha PitchFix but much simpler...

Yeahhh, wouldn't it be great?? It would also be cool if it had a formant shift option like Yamaha PitchFix has!

I really like Ableton plugins - they're extremely cpu-light, simple, automatable, and they pretty much provide all the options you would want/need. I try to not use any third-party plugins, but in a case like this, you have no choice (as of now).

And I agree - pitch plugins just make even great vocals sound that much more polished. In a way, (when used properly) they're just like equalization and compression, etc. in that they clean up the sound. And they can be used on instruments and to produce other interesting effects and sounds too of course. =)
