New problem with 605 nidi timing jumps not in 601

i have a track set up which is playing 3 sequences in loops of different lengths connected to my external synths. I have a 707 running from the midi sync as slave. No audio tracks.

When i play the sequence and let the parts loop sometimes i get a 1 second jump in the midi timing, like a hicup. It is not consistant as it can happen at any place sometime not for 70 bars or then sometimes every 10 bars, in a random location in the loops. It seems like the 707 is jumping in with the timing glitch also.

Using Presonus firebox
xp pro optomized for audio all patches and SP2
maudio 2x2 or MOTU express (happens with both)
live 6.05 default setting except adding devices
acer aspire 1680 2 gigs ram centrino 1.6.
almost 0% cpu and no spikes.

I reverted to live v6.01 and i'm not getting this problem. Also tried the latest beta 6.06b and there is still an issue.

Hello,

Can you make sure you are using the exact same Preferences, expecially concerning the MIDI sync? What are your settings? Live is the Master right?

Kind regards,
Amaury

thanks i checked in 6.01 i wasnt using my Presonus Firebox. Switched from using my internal soundcard to presonus firebox and sure enough i had the same issue as 6.05.

Strange thing is i have no audio tracks at all. I tried a few settings like fiddling wtih delay compensation, changing same rates and increasing buffer. Still the same problem.

I tried this:

Using ASIO for all on internal soundcard..no problem
Using ASIO for all with Presonus Firbox...no problem
Using Presonus Firebox ASIO driver...problem

I cant continue to use the ASIO for all with firebox as its not fully compatible and cant see all my in's and outs.

Any suggestion what can be done?

Hi,

Did you make sure you've got the latest Prosonus driver?
I haven't yet heard of such an isue. Just to be clear, it happens when you use MIDI sync right? Does it play alright if you do not use MIDI sync?

You should also drop a line to Presonus support, and see what they say.

Kind regards,
Amaury

yes latest drivers.

I cant say if the midisync is the only issue it looks like everthing hickups its just that im using the kick on my midisynced 707 as a benchmark.

I know the 707 is damn rocksolid with its midisync.

Im installing some microsoft hotfix for 1394 speed for SP2 now..maybe that could be the problem. EDIT no luck with hotfix

Yes i suppose presonus is the next stop..

Okay i worked it out..it was the battery monitoring subsystem device, disabled it and then no problems at all. Its not that im running on batteries but there is a hardware issue with acer laptop batteries which cause this problem.

This just means i get no warning when my battery goes low if im on battery mode.

Got to love acer! Thanks for your help anyway Amaury.
