Fellas...
Could someone be kind enough to explain throughly the main purpose of Simpler and Sampler? What they are used for?
I blame myself for having the software but it's completely useless to me as I am an idiot.

It's to confuse the crap out of dj's
J/k
Check the manual or even google for a detailed description of what a sampler entails.
Simpler is a simplified sampler.
Sampler is a sampler with a confusing name.. Its more like a synth then like a fully featured multi-sampler.

im a noob too. but it seems like simpler is sufficient for now. no need to dish out another couple hundred to buy sampler...
it allows you to modify instrument sounds

Well.. I dished out the money in the hope of catching a glimpse of success with music production. I can use Live ok in general. Have made a few songs, but to use Simpler and Sampler to the fullest would require some deep understanding of where they came from.
This is how i use Simpler as of now. I would drag a wav clip to Simpler and basically use my Midi keyboard to play that same clip in different notes. There gotta be more use of Simpler than just that. I guess I am curious of how other people would you Simpler? You wanna share???....
Basically, I am trying to read the 386 page Live manual. However the application and purpose of the module is not clearly entailed. Same as Instrument Rack, I know it's great but I have no ideas what it's for.
Can someone elaborate a bit on these? Shine some lights.. ...

That's pretty much it. They are sample playback instruments. However, there are lots of different options to affect the way the sample is played back. LFOs, filters, EQs, routing, splitting, envelopes... Lots of stuff. Once you know what each of the parameters do, you will be able to figure out how they can apply to a sample.

Sampler is basically Simpler with FM synthesis and sample zones.
Watch the videos on YouTube starring My. Henke, they're REALLY good. For the most part, forget what the knobs and buttons do, just PLAY AROUND, I find that I make freakier stuff when I don't know what I'm doing, when I do know it takes longer and never sounds like I intended. Ignorance can be bliss.

Thanks guy. I feel much better now.
Do you know how to cut and chop and do sound scupture with acapellas?
On a different subject, I found myself making music better and faster in Session View. Where as in arrangement I was too bogged down with they layout of the song itself.
I am still trying to figure out the Instrument Rack and stuff at the time....
I have to say that Ableton Live is really additive. I spend more time on it now than doing dj'ing.

You have played with the presets right?
From the sounds of the question it sounds like you might not have installed them or not discovered them. Go through the presets for an idea of how to use simpler/sampler, and just play then on your keyboard.
In short, they're keyboard instruments based on a sample rather than an oscillator.
