Awesome, dl'ing now. I assume this was done in Live eh? I'm just learning how to do it.

Yup! I have been mixing with Ableton for about 2 years...I love it. Now I just have to make the jump from DJing to production which is a totally different beast.

I'll give it a listen tomorrow or so and drop you a line. What are you using for a midi interface for assigning stuff? Can you recommend something for me that is portable? I work on the road so that would help. Few knobs and a fader would prolly do it.

I have an M-Audio Ozone...its really small, but you could probably just get any sort of USB controller for a laptop I would imagine.

Cool, I'm gonna go to Guitar Center tomorrow and see what they have. I listened to some of your mix, so far I really like it. I'm really impressed with the sound quality u have, amazing!

Actually since I have you here (sorta) I have three questions I think you can answer for me:

1. Let's say I have 10 tracks I want to mix together with Live. I first have to 'warp' all ten tracks so they are all 'matched', correct?

2. Once I want to mix them, I must do it through the record button up top and do it 'live'? Or is there another way?

3. If I start my set at 125bpm but want to end up on track 10 at 135bpm, what is the best way to accomplish this?

I started out with 2 questions but it turned into 3, sorry!

Yes...you want to set your warp markers for each track before you start mixing. This can take a bit of practice to get right, but it is worth it.

As for laying down your mix...I use the arrangement view and create a separate audio track for each mp3. Once you are done, set the loop/punch recording markers(the arrows underneath the beat time ruler) to the beginning and end of your mix and then go the the file menu and select "Render to Disk"

To adjust the tempo thoughout the mix, go to the Master track at the bottom of the arrangement view, change the device chooser to "Mixer" and the control chooser to Song Tempo. Then set breakpoints at the beginning and end of the breakpoint envelope and adjust them to set a starting and ending tempo.

I do believe this will help me, thanks so much for helping me with my noob questions! I've been downloading some tracks from Beatport, got some lovely stuff to drop on everyones ass when I figure this out, HAHAHA!!!!

Looks good! A buddy of mine uses something similar with is laptop to play live sets. He assigns each mp3 to tracks in the clip view and then uses his controller to move between and trigger each of the tracks. Its pretty cool, but I think I will stick to playing CDs live for now.

LOL, for eal! I'm warping down a bunch of tracks now in prep for my first run later tonight. Getting fast at that stuff now, so cool.

I also listened to the whole mix you did in my car, silly man! I liked the tone change after 30min mark. Kinda had that low frequency chug to it. Good stuff man!
