In arrange still feel there is a need for more than 1 time signature to make this program hum.
Also need to be implimented in reason as well..
Need to be able to have a few measures in 4/4 time then perhaps 3/8 adn whatever we might like and still have the transport read what the true and actual measure is...
this ONE feature would allow for classical,pop and ethnic music to be produced and played without boundries.
Thoughts?

I have to admit I'm still in v2 land.

Does v3's time signature object now respond to MIDI events?

If so, you could likely program a pattern in Numerology to fire MIDI events at the time signature object, to make the necessary changes on a periodic basis.

Absolutely!
It would be very important for me to be able to use changing time signatures in Live. I'm sure there are people on this list who make music with changing meters (do you have some kind of workarounds?). Live is such a musical tool that it should be able to cope with this - is it to be expected in the near future?

I'm dreaming of multiple time signatures in the performance mode. One horisontal row of loops would be in, say, 5/8, the next in 4/4, the next in 12/8 etc. I have pieces where musicians improvise over changing-meter loops. If Live could cope with them, I could get rid of background tapes and the stiffness of the sections' fixed lenghts.
I'm also writing a large music theatre piece and had intended to use Live in the instrumentation but this time signature business turns out to be a serious limitation.

Of course Live is primarily a tool for dance music, but its concept is so musician-friendly and its sound quality so good, and features so rich, that it can be used for many, even totally unexpected musical styles, such as beatless ambient soundscapes and other experimental stuff. But changing meters are not 'experimental'; a LOT of existing and future music is left out by not having the possibility to use them.

This 'hole' is limiting my work here too; there is song I'm working on for a recording artist (ie 'commercial' output) being hindered by Live lacking the ability to handle changing time singatures with reasonable effort. I am using Live much less because of this, unfortunately.

I'm in a band where we have recorded the drums as the base track. Live is a superb tool to sync the drums and the recording. But we have more songs where the signature is changing. It's such a shame that the possibility for more meters aren't there!

Any more discussion on this.
Odd meters are needed aas to not have to keep all of the tracks in 1/4!

yeah it's really an area where live shows it's heritage in 4/4 kick to the floor type stuff.
