Crash when openning specific Set - v2.03

Other fixes found through the forum haven't helped, so I desperately hope
you can help me solve this problem.
I'm gigging with this rig on FRI 9th, JAN!!!!
Firstly, my gear:
iBook 500 with 640meg RAM, Digidesign MBox, OS 9.2.2, LIVE 2.03, evolution 249C controller
The set-up:
multiple clips (about 350) loaded into one set to be trigged through my
evolution controller. I think I've got one effect running over the master
(the live reverb) but I hardly use it. After having no problem using this set-up for 3 months (the occasional crash if I pulled the usb whist saving and so on...) it crashed (type 2, save and reset etc.) on me during use after telling me that memory was low. I decided to check the memory allocation (get info, memory) and discovered that only 8731k was assigned. I doubled this and restarted, Live was opened successfully, but the particular set couldn't be opened - "Live has unexpectedly quit - type 2 error etc.). THEN...
I tried creating a RAM disk, but obviously the set was much to big to fit in
a RAM disk (about 1.3gig) so that was that idea.
I read some posts on the forum, and increased the memory available to Live to 240meg, restart, fail, 320meg, fail, 410meg, fail, 480meg, fail, 520meg, fail. I've opened a different set (quite a small one) and it was fine.
Why would Live suddenly be unable to open my set?
What can i do to get around this?
It's not practical to re-import all the clips and start from scratch.
I'd really appreciate it if anyone has some answers for me.
