bug: clips start playing when new effects added to set

hi there,
Last night I was playing a gig and thought I'd add some distortion to one of the tracks. I put the vinyl distortion in track 1, and then two random inactive clips in tracks 3 and 4 started playing. Weird. It happened once more when I threw a grain delay in one of my send tracks, but most of the time when I added effects I never saw this behavior.
Has anyone else seen this?
Setup: IBM Thinkpad with Emagic 2|6. Live 3.0.1 with Fruity Loops 4.5 as rewire slave.
Best,
Ben

yes I've seen this behaviour with LIVE 3.01 on a mac in OS X 10.3.1 as well - haven't had time to post until now because of all gigs I played but since happened in studio before playing in front of people I decided to avaoid 'live' insertions of FX during a set ( sounds strange when a bassline starts that doesn't match your current scale)...
definitely a new problem as I never have seen this with 2.x and can't remember to have seen this during LIVE 3.x beta stage.....

Hi,
we solved one potential source for this problem within Live 3.0.1 but it seems there's still something to do. Main problem here is to find a way to make this behaviour reproduceable. So if anybody has a reproduceable scenario please let me know.
regards,
Alex

This post will not help much but I can report that a similar thing happened on 3.01 on Mac OS 9.2.2 in a Digital Audio Mac with Powerlogix 1.2Gb card.
2 days a go I was in Session mode and I added an Ableton effect and suddenly a complete Scene launched.
Here is where I can't help much.......I can't remember exactly which FX it was. It was either Erosion,Filter delay,Grain Delay,Redux or Reverb.
I remember being very very suprised by the whole scene launching but, as simply stopping the scene solved the problem, I just put it down to another day on the computer and kept working !!
I will try and replicate it later today.

I'm getting the same thing happening, I think it's worse with the 3.02 update. I first noticed it happen when I inserted an EQ4 but then it also happened with Blockfish and Vintage warmer. Not every time though.
I can't help thinking that it would be wiser to make it so that when you insert a new plugin, it inserts in "switched off" mode. It seems to me that this is exactly how you would want to work in a live situation. I can't understand why Ableton made it so that when you open a new plugin it opens switched on. You need it to be off first so that you can load a preset before activating it.
I'm not really bothered by this bug at the moment cos I'm only composing, but in a live situation it could cause a major disaster!
Ableton, have you tried making the FX load in a "switched off" state? Just a thought
All the best to you

Hi Martyn,
this bug is a sideffect of inserting/deleting an effect or a track. It does not depend on which effect or which track. It depends what you did in which order before adding/deleting the effect. That's why it is so difficult to track it down.

Hi Alex. If i find a pattern I'll let you know, but at the moment I can't really help much. I'll try to anylise my workflow a bit more and if I can get it to happen repeatedly I'll send you the file.
Cheers M
