Newbie Question.....

Forgive me I am a new user. I am also not home to test this. I have seen some posts saying you can not run two installs of Live at the same time. Is this true??
If so, then the following is not possible right? My band basically tracks out and writes at my home studio. If I have Live on my Desktop and Laptop I can not run both at the same time. So I could not be working on one thing on my laptop while my drummer tightens a performance on my Desktop.....
Maybe I did not grasp this concept correctly. I find it weird that I could not run my two Lives at the same time. If it is true, what would it solve if both computers are registered with Live?
