Mbox en Live

I am using (trying to) an Mbox and protools LE 6.2.2 and a powerbook G4 800mhz with OS10.3.2. I have a lot of trouble with Live running through my Mbox. It will start up fine, and I can do some stuff in Live, but it almost always "unexpectedly quits" when the operations become a little more complicated (adding an effect to a sample or other not that strange tasks). Switching back to built in audio in the audio prefs, and hooking up the computer to the headphone output, solves the problem, and Live runs fine again. I have also experienced that Live sets created with the audio setting to Digidesign Mbox, which experience a crash, will sometimes be corrupted, and I can't open them again. It gives me the message: Syntax error, expected a class id, found " '3>JVamx?". Running Protools with live Rewired in it hadn't worked for me either, the same crashes of Live appear, and even twice the whole system froze, with a scary white text on a black background about kernels and IP addresses etc appeared in the upper left corner of the screen. Is there a Live bug concerning the Mbox, or a Mbox/Digidesign bug that makes other audio software not run smoothly on the Mbox, or is it me?
Anybody else with this problem, any solutions?
Jorrit

Hi folks,
Since Live 3.0.1 and the strictly separation between CoreAudio and Direct I/O we have reduced the problems for many Digi users but there are still some having problems, mostly on Panther. So at first get sure to use the latest Live version, meanwhile Live 3.0.2.
So far we cannot give a helpful hint for this problem because we also do not yet know what is the reason for these problems.
regards,
Alex

Same here with Digi002 Rack - completely useless - not happy at all right now. Everything works fine with the Powerbook's internal sound, but Live 3.0.2 + Digi hardware in Panther 10.3.2 is less exciting than going to a tax seminar. So now I have to revert to working with headphones, since I have my monitors directly connected to 002R's monitor outputs. I don't use a standalone mixer.
If anything, is there any way of isolating this to be a Digidesign Core Audio issue? As Logic 7 is around the corner, this better get resolved quickly.
wish i had a solution

Hi, just thought i'd put in my 2 cents. I too am having problems with the M-Box and Live. I'm using a G3 ibook 900mhz 640mg ram running os 10.3.3. Have just downloaded both Live 3.04 and Pro-tools LE 6.2.3. so am up to date with all software, and am unable to have Live running for more than 30 seconds with the Digidesign Core-audio drivers turned on... Annoying...
The funny thing is, Whilst i have did have this problem about 2 months ago, it kind of just started to work again after a Nortons disk doctor, and I didn't have a problem again for about 2 months...it has been working fairly well up until two days ago... Disk Doctored again, but hasn't seemed to work this time.
well, I thought I'd keep this thread running in the hope that someone finds the problem.
Could it have anything to do with USB power? because I have just recently got a Korg MicroKontroller around the same time as this recent spate of problems.... clutching at straws really...
reagrds,
am

Hrmmm...

if you think it is usb power issue, and the korg microkontroller is a hog... you could try unhooking it.

nah, i'm pretty sure it isn't the micro kontrol. I have tried unplugging, and still get the same thing going on. It's quite strange actually, after I posted that reply, the mbox worked great for about an hour, and then quit on me in the usual fashion. go figure. just tempramental i guess.
