Everything works fine for me with live 6 just if I move more then 1 at the same time without recording the automation undo's go in very small increments for some reason.

cheers mate, i cant even get it sending midi data,
i have spent all day, so either mine is fualty (ex demo)
or i am missing some minute detail.
if you dont mind, could you put a quick rundown of the order of connections
i.e
1)what mode you got the tascam in
2)what mode in live is it mackie mode
2)what input and output in live ie fw 1.2 or ?
and anything i may have missed out
just so i can make sure i am doing it right allthough 9 hours says i have tried it all.
much appreciated mate.

nice one , very much apppreciate your time.
i did actually try having all the midi port chooser settings on' and still nothing.
but i did not have the 2nd setting in the control surface set to ...vp1
lets hope that is the problem.
if not i think it may be to do with the sonar add on i installed as this is where it may be tricky - i use ableton as main standalone daw, but also use ableton sometimes in rewire with sonar 6 and bounce too sonar for mastering so i would be useing with two daws.
i will let you know the outcome, thanks.

why use rewire to get stems into Sonar, if I might ask? Live 6 can render each track individually...

i only use rewire if i want to use the instruments from sonar so i rewire .
allthough only just learning sonar - quite a pain, but good instruments and
effects.
if i like an instruments sound and played patten in sonar and it works i then
render the audio from sonar and put it back in my live arrangement.
then once my live arrangement is complete i aim to render the audio as you say , and put it back into sonar, and maybe re-introduce the original sonar synth and tweek it some more, if not on to mastering in sonar.
i prefer to use ableton as my main arrangement daw.

djc mate i have sorted the ableton connections for the tascam as depicted,
i think the problem now lies with my computer sound interfaceing
here are my options if you have time to answer:
Audio:
sound playback -
fw SPDIF 1;2
analouge 1;2
realtek
Recording-
fw SPDIF 1;2
analouge 1;2
analouge 3;4
analouge 7;8
analouge 5;6
realtek
Midi music playback:
wavetable synth-
Fw port 1
Fw port 2
fw control
--------------------------------------------------
voice:
fw SPDIF 1;2
analouge 1;2
realtek
recording:
fw SPDIF 1;2
analouge 1;2
analouge 3;4
analouge 7;8
analouge 5;6
realtek
------------------------------------------------------
I have my mic in mic input 1
thanks again for the time' and excuse my terrible spelling

,
if i rule these out, then i will no if it is a faullt with the tsacam or not.
thanks

If you haven't checked out the Tascam forums yet be sure to do so:

thanks,
checked the forums and short of formatting my hard drive to maybe help! their are no solutions to my problems.
also their seem to be not one single mention on forums from poeple useing ableton live.
so i will conclude my tascam is at fualt, and it was ex demo, so maybe they botched it up.
thanks guys everything is ruled out, i followed many poeples instruction to no gain.

i got mine yesterday. and i love it!
works fine with live 6 (Mackie emulation mode). motorized faders are so sweet to have. sound is really good and i have no latency at all (1ms). i was also recording some vocals with my Audio Technica mic and there was no noise AT ALL. really nice preamps.
one thing i also liked is that you can record vocals through Live's effects with almost no latency in headphones. i was afraid of this one...
however there's one thing i couldn't make it to work (yet!) - the EQ section is not responding. i even can't assign those button as midi controls.
same thing in Cubase. they are not effecting eq section.
i'll give it another try today.
