What latency can I expect with a USB 2.0 Edirol UA-101?

Hello,

Hopefully someone can offer some advice here, as I'm unsure of what to do.

For a couple of years I had a P4 Dell laptop, PCIMIA firewire card, and
M-Audio Firewire 410. I used Live, and everything worked fine.

However, I recently (three days ago) upgraded my laptop to a new Dell
Inspiron 9400, dual core 2GHZ Pentium with 2 Gig of Ram. I had a bit of
trouble getting it to work with my M-Audio (which I've plugged right into
the laptop's 4-Pin Firewire interface), but after disabling the wireless
network and the DVD player (see this thread) It ALMOST works perfectly.

Now my only problem is that when I'm using Ableton, any live monitoring
freezes up and drops out after 2-10 mins. Ableton still runs fine, but I can
no longer monitor or record Audio-In. A quick re-set of the program sorts
this out, but only for another few minutes.

This problem is annoying, but I can get by making music, as I usually only
record a bass-line, few guitar loops and 10 seconds or so of looped vocals
(I make electro-house stuff). But this problem means I won't be able to play any live instuments for any upcoming gigs.

So.... I was thinking of selling my firewire 410, and gettiing an Edirol
UA-101 . This is a pretty similar soundcard, but
runs on USB 2.0 instead of Firewire. Will I be able to get close to zero
latency playing soft-synths, and live guitar though vsts like NI Guitar-Rig
with a USB 2.0 card like I do at the moment with the Firewire?
