Hi all!

We have two laptops running vista ... i know i know!
Running the latest update of Live.

We have two m-audio firewire audiopiles linked by a midi cable.
A midi sync going, but after some time we loose the midi sync.

Does anyone have an idea? The sync master light is still flashing and probably still sending a signal. But The slave doesn't seem to reveive a signal.

Okay ... we've tried a lot, but nothing seems to be working.
We tried to use another program as a slave ... we got Resolume, a vj tool, running, and this program keeps it's sync. So it seems like Live is loosing the signal in some way.

We solved for it now by syning via LAN. Seems to work realy good.
But preferably we would like our problem solved.
Any suggestion are welcome!

hey, i have noticed similar problems...running two Powerbooks with Live, in Midi Sync, and neither computer is doing all that much that it should pose problems.
However, INVARIABLY, Live either experiences a very audible tempo jitter or jump, OR the sync gets um, un-synced by a beat or a beat and a quarter or something, really messing up the loops that are running in tandem...
any thoughts on what could be causing this or how to fix it?

Sounds like what I'm running into with my toneport i/o running under Windows 2000. I upgraded the memory which seemed to help, but timing still slides a bit, more subtly now which is all the more disconcerting!

The toneport doesn't play well with win2k apparently, so I'll be upgrading to XP.

I realize my situation is quite different from yours, but we seem to be experiencing a similar effect at the end.

I would expect driver issues to result in pops and clicks, and not slippery timing.

That said, I also have live6 running on an xp laptop and it's phenomenally tight, so I'm hopeful that my issue will be resolved with the os upgrade.

Please keep us posted if you resolve your own sync issues. I'll be interested to know if you find a fix yourself or if an Ableton update addresses it.

I have a feeling it's an Ableton thing and not a configuration issue, but we'll see. Hope they're looking at this...

We tried some new stuff ... but it only fixes our problem partly.
LaCerta ... we have the same thing like you have i think.
Instead of linking our audiocards by a midi cable, we linked a midi cable from te master to a bcr2000 which is attched to the 2e laptop by usb. This seems to wrok good .... until after some time the sync got an offset of about half a beat.
This sucks cause when you perform live ... well .... let's say it's not verry pleasant

The only thing I found that helps is switching to an external hardware clock (I had troubles getting my 303 to sync tightly). I had a 707 that I used only for it's sounds (gotta love those hihats) but it's now my masterclock.

Any chance you can get your hands on a drum machine or borrow it, just to check whether it works...
