Whenever I save a new project in my Ableton folder or sub folder like "Live Sets" (not within an existing project) Live does not create a new project folder but just saves the .als file alone. When I save the project anywhere outside of the Ableton folder Live will create the Project folder. This must be a bug right?
Anyone else with this problem?

Note: I did use the Project icon for my Ableton folder but I have made a new Ableton folder (default icon) and moved everything into this. This should do it I think but maybe theres still some reference to the Project icon that i used?

you cannot save Live sets as projects (with a 'Project' folder)
into Live's library folder because the library is a 'Project' as well..

Thanks but that makes no sense at all. Live 5 did create an audio folder with the same name as the project -in the default "Sets" folder within the Library but in live 6 all the audio of all projects is just stored in one single (+sub) folder. Choosing "Collect all and save" does not even create a project folder.

So I agree with other users that the new file management system is a mess.

don't save your sets in the Live library and all should go fine..

Live 6 has a new file manage system, so forget how Live 5 handled this..

The Live 6 library is handled the same as your 'Project' folders..
In fact, the library is one huge 'Project' folder..

So when you are trying to save a set (that automatically creates a 'Project' folder),
into the library, you're actually trying to save a 'Project' into a 'Project'..

that's not allowed..
and therefore there's no new 'Project' folder created..

The reason why all your sets share the same 'Samples' folder is because they're saved into the library* (*read: 'Project')..
This is the same as when you save a copy of a set into that set's 'Project' folder..
That copy and the initial set share the same 'Samples' folder as well..

'Collect all and save' does not create a 'Project' folder because the library IS the 'Project' folder..

Thanks I understand but I just don't see the advantage of this.

well there's no real advantage/disadvantage..
it's just how things work now behind the scenes..
just get used to it..

the only minor disadvantage is that you cannot save projects into the library..

I can live with that..
