I will be moving onto live 6 soon from the original 5.2 version of live and I own a copy of operator. Is there an upgrade(for operator) needed/available to run operator in the Universal binary version on an intel mac? does it cost to upgrade?

No, I think you should be good with just the Live 6 upgrade
