Hello fellow Live users! Wondered if you had any idea's and could help me?
There seems to be too much info on my session for my computer to handle and when I click to upload, the set never loads, it looks as if it is loading but it basically freezes up my computer.
On a friends recommendation bought more RAM, now have 2gb, or just over, but to no avail .
The CPU didn't overload and the track played fine, however, when I was moving clips around and changing the velocity on the drum patches, the actions were delayed and then I started getting warning messages saying Virtual Memory Too low!!!
Didn't take note of hard disk overload indicator so couldn't tell you about that.
So was wondering has any body else had this problem?
and how did you overcome this little glitch.
Should I .....A) Change my processor a Sempron 3000+, but noticed that in the live 5 test thread a couple of others with this same processor the test seemed to work fine for them.
B) just change the processor cache? I get the impression my cache is very small.
C) Get another Hard drive? Current specs 80gb 7200rpm with around 35gb free space.
D) Purchase Mesa Lonestar Amp crank it up and see how many windows I can blow!!!

I'm currently surrounded by Upgrading and repair books from the library, I've defragged, checked for viruses, used ScanDisk, trashed unwanted files, lurked many a forum and help site. etc, etc, etc..........
My head is swimming.......in confusion and not solution!!!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Oh and I'm using Live 5.

How many tracks - how many plugins/synths?

How many of your clips are loaded into ram?

..and which version of Live 5?

Live 5.2. No updates.

nothing external, just a couple of the instrument devices supplied with Ableton, I can't quite remember which, may have been Deeper and something else. The problem began when I began changing each seperate drum sound on the patch at the bottom ie, Clicked on the bass drum, changed the velocity, added filter and changed the volume then transposed it a little. Then clicked on the tom or snare and messed around with the sounds of those too. That isn't exactly what I did but the sort of thing I was doing.
No clips are loaded into RAM.

Oh and everthing else works perfectly, no problems ever until this.

Sorry to bump own thread but has anybody got any idea's? Please.....

Are you absolutely positive there were _NO_ VSTi, VSTs or AUs in use?

Becuase this is a faily common problem with bad plugins. The solution is to remove ALL of the VSTs from the plugins folder, and then add them back one at a time until Live crashes again. that last plugin you added=the bad one.

No just what Ableton have supplied.....

The same thing happened with another track too.
So yesterday I tried to recreate something similar, cutting up looping over and over warping changing each seperate drum sound and can I lose a track? ...........NO!!!
So now I'm even more perplexed!!!

I'm going to run Ableton at full whack in the next few days to see when and where problems occur. I can only put it down to weak computer at the mo'. So I'm definately going to change my processor and look into hard drives and motherboards etc., etc.....

All I want to do is make music and now me, a technophobe is learning how to build computers!!! and how comes it's always the best tunes that go missing!!!!

Ableton supplies a lot of Live Clips, which contain Simpler, Impulse, Operator, Sampler plus usually a number of plugins. All of this can add up.

So a breakdown of what you've loaded (not just the names, but which plugins are on that track) would be nice.

Also, try taking the Live 5 performance test and see what you get in there.
