Problem with Sonic Maximizer on OS X

Hi,
preliminary info, I'm running OS X 10.4.9 tiger on a PowerBook G4. I've installed the Sonic Maximizer yet I can't get it to show up in my plugins window and I have no idea why. I can see Apple's onboard AU plug-ins, but not this particular VST... I have also installed another VST and got it to show up, so I know the plug-in functionality is working, just not with BBE.
I've even done a clean re-install of Ableton to see if it was maybe something hanging around from when i was running v5 for a short time, but I still can't get this particular VST to show up in Ableton.
Anyone else have similar troubles? Anyone get it to work on a system like mine?
