I'm moving to Las Vegas in 8 weeks. I've lived in L.A. all my life so it's really weird and It will also be the first time i've ever made salary. Good riddance invoicing (spit)

I'm lead sound engineer for an internet startup company mixing bands live to broadcast over the net and 3G. More later but their business model is pretty cool.
4 bands a night with 75min sets and mixing on the fly baby. It's gonna be a real white knuckle gig. I just can't get LA to work for me anymore and
i'm grinding too hard. Tired, angry, stressed. But, Vegas seems to be poppin. I'll probably get back to making more music too.

Can anybody tell me about living there? Any advice?

store some back up water and make sure that everything that happens there while you are there does not stay there. always have your camera and document eveything on this forum.

what happens in vegas no longer stays in Vegas.

Ok, got it. Water, camera, police. I'm frickin set. Thanx fellas, shit, for a minute I was sorta freakin out.

I must admit though, way back in my mind, i'm thinking about all the opportunities for getting into some kind of trouble. Living in 24 hour nonstop debauchery may have its challenges.

My mom lives there, out in Henderson, actually, and I travel there for work twice a year, so those 2 things bring me out there a heck of a lot. I really like it there, I almost bought a condo there 5 years ago, I'm kicking myself for not, it was 1,200 square feet, 2 bedroom, brand new construction, $90,000. Housing has gone up quite a bit, but still ridiculously affordable compared to LA. And right now they are experiencing plummeting home prices. About a 30% drop last I checked. You should check out Henderson, it's only a 15-20 minute drive down to the strip, it's very quiet out there, the homes are huge, beautiful views of the strip/mountains/red rocks. I don't know if this is all that helpful, but I at least give Vegas props, I think it's a great place to live.

i've been surviving in Vegas now for about 10 years. if you can make it through the 4 or so months of extreme heat the rest of the year is pretty nice. drink lots of water and pray your a/c holds up. and congrats on the job!

I moved to Las Vegas from Vermont last year and stayed about 8 months and made a lasting friendship with an acrobat cirque girl. It was fun, definately enjoy the south west, go to the valley of fire, red rocks, zion, its crazy beautiful. Oh and I went to a real orgy at some mansion. Vegas is beyond interesting. Oh yeah check out the arizona hot springs about a half mile from the Hoover dam but don't put your head under there is some microbe or something in the 107 degree water that eats your brain, no joke they have signs up and everything. Try the Firefly for tapas and great mojitos. Sushi Fever on Charleston is great despite the name which for a place servin raw fish in the dessert is in poor taste. Oh yeah and definately meet cirque folks. Great people with strange talents and tickets to lotsa shows. Vegas was fun. I'll be back in June for a bit maybe I'll run into you.

Don't eat pot brownies and go watch a magic show with clowns and cars floating over the crowd.
