I have an M-Audio Oxygenv2 keyboard/controller and as such have selected the midi map for this keybard in Ableton 6. The problem is that the upper right knob on the controller is mapped not only to whatever is in effect rack but also the master volume, making it unusable, I have to resort to a mouse. I've tried mapping it to other controllers on the Oxygen and that is successful but the mapping to the knob in question always remains. Anybody any ideas of how to unmap this knob to the master volume ?

1. Turn on midi map mode
2. The midi browser should appear on the left side of the screen.
3. Look for the mapping that you don't want. Click it and hit delete.

I would delete it for both the rack AND the master volume and then remap it the way you want.

You can also enter midi map mode and find the control that's mapped, right-click and then select "clear mapping" or whatever is along those lines.

In midi map mode there are no mappings displayed on the left hand side of the screen. I agree you would expect them to be there. Indeed if I add the new map its shows there but the default map that seems to take place on selection of the Oxygenv2 doesn't seem to display there. I guess its this mapping I need to find. I may have a look round at some files outside of Ableton as I am pretty computer literate. Thanks though.

anyway i got the same prob you have. just got an oxygen 8v2, 2 days ago actually. it was recognised no probs by live's automaping and everthing else works alright but that damn knob, c8, always changes teh master volume as well as the parameter it is supposed to control. MIDI map mode shows nothing because nothing has been mapped manually but automap by live. my oxygen is 2 days old so i reckon it's something to do with live, but i dont know...

did u find any solution???

Never did find a solution but i found over time that i preferred my own mappings anyway and it seemed quite easy to lose the automatic mappings (though can't remember how now - and not at home).
Loving Ableton though !!

isn't manual mapping a bit of a pain since it only applies to the device you actually mapped? the good thing about automap is that it works on any device, being that an instrument or effect or whatever, as long as it is selected. am i right bout this?

or is there a way to do your own 'global' mappings? (with global i mean working on any selected device)

listen, i dont know if u are interested in this, since u prefer ur manual mappings, but i found a solution that not only fixes the prob we have with the master volume but that also lets u change banks, so u can forget about the 'best of' and control each device, each parameter, everything!!... and u still can have ur manual mapping in a different preset or even channel..

this is it: create ur own automapping... how?.. here:

- Mac: /Users/<your user name>/Library/Preferences/Ableton/Live 6.0b20
- PC: C:\Documents and Settings\<your user name>\Application Data\Ableton\Live\Preferences\Live 6.0
