Mackie Emulation.. where to get it??

Hi all,
Sorry for a stupid question, but where can I get/buy/download the mackie emulation (program?)? I honestly don't know much at all about what the heck it does, but I feel it will come in very handy for me later on once I learn how to use it. Will someone please enlighten me? Thanks!

search the forum, and you should find enough about it to be able to achieve it by yourself by programming your controller with the right midi outputs.
Also Flipotto created a program which will do the hard work of Mackie emulation for you:

Thanks for the reply stutter, but with all due respect it didn't help me too much. I'm still in the dark as to what Mackie Emulation is or does. I'm not even sure if its a program you buy or just a nickname for a studio technique. Will someone please elaborate? how do I "achieve" it? (as stutter put it)

google it. it's similar to lives built i automap stuff that lets you use one controller for several jobs. it automatically assigns the controls on your midi controller to jobs in the software. i set this up on a bcr2000 a few years ago and it's pretty cool, you can have the volume faders assigned automatically as well as parameters in vst's when you click on them with visual feedback...

A remote SL and/or a Padkontrol. So, correct me if I'm wrong, but heres my take on Mackie Emulation: basically its a big list of commands, each command corresponding to a midi note or number or something of the sort. Its already integrated in Live, so you have to set it up in the midi tab, and assign a controller to send Mackie commands. You look at the list, find what commands you want your controller to do, then set up your controller to send those specific notes or numbers to produce those commands. Am I right?

Yes, basically - but it would be much easier to use a device which natively supported Mackie Control, like:
-wait for it- Mackie Control Universal (best, expensive)
Behringer BCF2000 - (not so best, cheap)
I think you'd find that most people with a Remote SL will be more interested in Automap, which Ableton calls "Instant Mapping". I'd recommend looking into that a bit more. It depends on what you're most keen on controlling. MCE should excel at transport and mixer function (faders, mutes, rec. arm, solo, etc) and Automap should excel at plugin and instrument control. Not that one can't handle the other, but I'd say those are their specialties.

I've been able to get most any MIDI controller to emulate Mackie MCU mode using Bome MIDI translator.
Right now I have the following emulating Mackie MCU
Novation Launch Control
Worlde EasyControl.9
Nektar LX-25+
Novation Launchkey MINI 25
Akai APC-40 MKII
Akai Minimix
It generally takes me 3-4 hours to set up a new one if needed.
The emulation can be quite different depending on things like the number of buttons and knobs a controller has, whether it supports LED feedback etc.
All of the emulations above have support for Faders and Vpots. Most have support for Solo, Rcd/Rdy
If anyone is interested in me building something for you you can respond to this post. I do charge a fee for such services as usually the user likes to have some customization. I'm also a Moderator at the Bome support site. I've also created ability to use mouse and joystick as a MIDI input device.

Hi Steve,
I'd be interested in getting an Akai APC 40 MkII to work with MCU mode for Logic Pro. Is this possible/feasible?
