This is a crazy concept, but is it circut bending?

using midi doesn't change the fact that the unit is circuit bent.

the "unit" isn't circut bent.
It's a kit for circuit benders to add midi in/out to their creations.
This is for people who know how to use a solder.
good time to learn.

I'm aware that it's a kit. the original posted asked if it was circuit bending, and I think it is.

there has to have been something done to it to make it able to play parts of sounds via midi

circuit bending ends where pure unadulterated experimentation turns into something thought out and carried through with percision. after you figure out how to keep from frying something circuit bending is a complete free for all. this is what one would call a "modification". through and through.

Whatever the hell it is, it's pretty awesome.

I wonder if EvilEvilEvilEvilEvilEvil has one of these for his new studio in Saskatchewan?

???
so, your saying if i blindly mash a circuit, and somehow stumble onto a noise, thats circuit bending, but if i take a circuit, say i want to increase this capacitance by x, this resistor by y, and i'll make z sound, thats not??

i think you can still use capacitors and resistors in a bend to achieve a certain tonality, and it still be called circuit bending. but once you start looking at schematics and studying what pin on what chip performs what function and tracing paths on circuit boards it starts to become a 'modification'.. of course there are just my interpretations.

I'm (kinda of) in love, where's inspiration

I think it is interesting, but exactly backwards. I don't think hardly nyone wants to send midi into one of these, most want to use these toys as a controller, to send it out.
