Hi

This is driving me insane please help....

I have an external USB 2.0 hard drive (Samsung) in an external housing. If i try to copy any large files 100mb plus usually, the drive just hangs. I have tested it in disk utility, fine, i have tested on a PC formatted as NTFS, fine, if you copy large files 1gig+ FROM harddrive to Mac drive, fine!

This is drving me up the wall and cannot find answer anywhere, suffice to say the drive is fine and appears to be an issue with OSX/MAC.

Note: I use a 1gig USB flashdrive no problem.

I had that trouble with a brand new external-hard-drive quite recently.
Same issue.
Different brands, though.

It's your Exernal HDD, i highly think.
Try a different one or buy a new one.
That worked for me.

I shipped back the one that wasn't working.

Is it formatted for Mac OSX Extended ? If you can read FROM it, but not write to it...it maybe formatted incorrectly. Other than that....it's probably faulty.
