Some 25 years ago, a younger friend of mine had an LP with John Cooper Clarke, which a taped. Then recorder and tapes died some years ago.
But glad now to find one of my favourites again, "Beasley Street":

Do you know if this guy is still around and performing?

I don't think that he is performing anymore, I have not heard anything about him for a long time.

Shame, I saw him once he was a great performer.

I was really worried when i saw this thread - i thought he'd died or something!

When Mark Radcliff started his radio2 show (a couple of years ago) John Cooper Clark was one of his first guests. I think he made him 'doo-wop' corresponent or something. very sarcastic individual. in a good way.

I wish someone would re-issue 'ten years in an open necked shirt' , 'cause my copy is falling apart. One of the funniest books i own - better than the records, i reckon.

Thanks, lots of JCC stuff there.
I really like his dialect and voice, a goat that has been drinking sulphuric acid.

There's a John Cooper Clarke performing this Thursday in Belfast as part of the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival.
