Bad Impulse bug: not remembering my kits

I’m using Live 5.2.1, and I keep getting the error message “Locate sample? The sample has been moved or renamed” when I try to load my homemade kits. I have them stored under the Acoustic and Electronic subfolders of Impulse. Live does remember them for awhile, but it seems every day I have to locate all the samples again.

It worked fine yesterday. The only things I’ve done since, are:

1. Copied the Impulse folder to an external drive
2. Created a new folder, first within the Electronic folder, then I dragged a homemade kit into it, then moved the folder to the Impulse folder.

The Live stock kits load just fine, but all of MY kits have screwed Live up. I’m on OSX 10.4.8.

number 2 sounds like you moved your samples after creating the kit, though I'm not possitive thats what you did cause of the phrasing you used. but if this is the case then impulse will not be able to find your samples if they have been moved at all.

make sure to keep all your kit samples in your library folder.

then Ableton will never lose them.

I think i fixed it. I was inadvertantly backing up the kits to a folder on my desktop, one I fill up before I offload it to an external drive. This was confusing Live.
