Hello ableton family.

I have I think a relatively simple question. Im interested in finding out if there is a way to insert audio before the 1st bar of a song im working on, the reason being is that the music I need to be quantized begins on the first bar, but the audio sample that im introducing the song with isnt the same tempo as the song and the length of the sample would push the song off its normally quantized beginning. Any solutions to what Im assuming a very simple problem? I would hate to have to truncate my .wav just so it fits on beat with the song, if i could insert the audio but leave everything at its original bar/beat location, it would make it much easier for my production.

I think I understand what you're saying. You have recorded a song, but now want to add an intro or some beginning sample that is not a perfect 4/4 bar so everything in the song will be off the bar quantization if you add it in? That's really confusing to try and put in words...

What I would do... I would highlight everything that is in your set currently and slide it forward enough to provide enough space for the intro audio. Next you drag your audio as close to the beginning of the song as you can get... zoom in... drag a little closer... zoom in... drag closer... etc, until you have it's right edge perfectly lined up with the first beat of the song beginning.

Maybe there's an easier way, but this should work.
