Yamaha 01v system software loader problem

I know this isn't a Yamaha site but they don't seem to have a forum like this and I just thought I'd see if anybody has come across this.
Sounds critical..... when I switch on my 01v a page comes on the screen saying 'System Sofware Loader' 'current version:>>no data' and there are 4 boxes saying 'to host' 'fast' 'midi' and 'exit'.
It has happened a couple of times in the last couple of weeks (I've had it for about 5 years) and selecting 'exit' seemed to do the trick.
Now however, when I select it, the new page comes up saying 'boot up program' and then goes back to the original 'system software loader' page.
AAAARRRGGGGHHH!!
Has anybody got a solution to this, does my 01v need to have the operating system installed again and how do I do it. Is my 01v for the bin?
