Newly drawn clip envelopes slow to take effect.

Just trying out Dave Hill's Trick: "The mad professor's Groovebox" and I notice that in session view, newly drawn clip envelopes take several passes to have an audible effect - whereas in Arrange view it's instant. Anyone else with this problem?
