Apparently I ordered something from them a few months ago because this last week I got my first issue of Keyboard Magazine with a note saying they were sending me 12 issues for free.
Anyone else had this happen? I'm kinda looking for the "catch"... are they going to start charging me after these first 12 issues?
I'm not sure I'd care really... kinda a cool magazine.

If they have your credit card or bank info, they will probably charge you after your 12 free issues. $1 an issue is not too bad to have something to read on keyboards.

Yeah I know... I don't think I'll cancel it if it keeps coming. I'm reading the June one right now about the Arturia Jupiter-8V softsynth... good stuff.

here's how this works.....you'll get "x" amount of mags, then when it's over, you'll get "collection" notices from this scam agency (can't remember the name right now) telling you your credit is in jeapordy/etc.
You'll finally mail the magazine and they will say you've been "cancelled" and to ignore the notices.....then you'll still get more notices.

they did the same thing to me. heck for a $1 each, you now have something to read when you sit your fat hairy arse down on the seat, and squeez cheese for 10 minutes, daily.

Yeah, I mean, I love the magazine but I don't want to deal with any of the bullshit eyeknow described.
I can't even remember buying anything from Sweetwater.com

Keyboard magazine is a decent magazine. I wouldn't expect them to scam you. I think they must be getting most their money from advertising, since the subscription cost is $1 per issue.
If you want to learn the keyboard they have the best transcriptions. Everything from old funk players to tori amos and jan hammer. Extremely accurate.

Well the first issue had a letter sealed in the plastic with it from Sweetwater.com saying they were "sponsoring" a subscription for me or something. I figured I was getting the 12 issues for free because it's only worth $12 anyway so who cares...
I wonder if eyeknow is talking about something different...

No catch. They need subscribers so that advertisers are more willing to advertise. So they give out free subscribtions to help inflate their numbers.

I got the same the same thing from sweetwater last year, it's no big deal. After a year, they send you a few notices asking you to subscribe, I just trashed them and nothing ever happened, the mags just stop coming as expected.
