I've installed Audacity but I'm not sure I like it as much as live, does anyone else use it? Is it something worth persevering with or ditch it?

It's apples and oranges! One is an audio editor, and the other is live performance software masquerading as a DAW.

You're hardly comparing like for like. It's like comparing Illustrator to Photoshop.

No, I am using Audacity to put my vocals over then save, as it saves things to MP3!

why not just use live to do your arranging of your vocal and then export to audacity to convert to mp3?

Live would lose...it doesn't have that easter egg where there's an entire flight simulator inside Excel. http://www.eeggs.com/items/29841.html

I use audacity for that, it can be handy for layering audio, but only in a really retarded and slow to use way. It is better than itunes for converting to mp3 though. (no library to load)

When the same loop played for about 10 minutes, the audience looked at me perplexed..."Is he reading his email or what??" they said..."Nay, my children," I said, "I'm playing the Excel 97 easter egg flight simulator."

You'd get audience member coming up saying "erm, you couldn't do my books for me while you're just...."
