with every step you grow into that whole thing your approach is raising, and your eyes and ears get better, clearer, finer. so whats the problem? money to keep it going. i owe my girlfriend about 4000 dollars meanwhile, and she´s still a poor student too. just an example.... get a mic that sounds not like bathing in shitty mudd, whats the result? if the step forward is real, you need a new pre amp and if it comes worse even a new a/d-unit. special rooms for recording, or at least minor luxury like that se reflection filter.

no word on software, after figuring out the differences, what was just a fine nuance yesterday becomes essential after a while. cause you know, the whole sum lacks from every bad coin in the chain. and what about your improved skills in songwriting, if its all fucked down to pieces by your cheap sounding tools?

and then guys come around telling me an asshole cause of not having money left for buying every fkn software that could be useful for a sweet detail. but worst of it all, when you see most of the guys who did good in their days without having the money later trading soul with commercial success you know that situation just the heart of it, being directly on the pulse of that endlessly thin road. so maybe better creep on the floor spitting blood than becoming one of those.

sorry, but its just time to get mad again.

sorry... but what are you getting mad at?

many many records have been made on a show-string that are damn fine...

my suggestion is work within your limitations, and find ways to make them work for you.

What are you doing borrowing money from your girlfriend if she's a broke student?

I know what you are saying and I've been there....well, not raging pissed about it like you are. I don't know how limited your setup is but I know I have tons of stuff that I haven't even begun to scratch the surface with and at the same time don't have half the stuff that other people have on here.

It's going to sound stupid and like a cliche but you need to get the most out of what you have. I don't know if you've exhausted all your options with what you have but this board is full of people finding great work arounds that get the same result as that $200 plugin you can't afford.

Cheers to you for snapping. We all do it. But I do realize that all your musical frustration would end if you had a lemur.

Stop blaming your equipment you pathetic weakling.

My last album was built on a worn out old AMD XP2000 PC with a £50 soundcard and it has sold nearly 20,000 copies to date.

Your equipment is fine - it is your head that needs replacing.

And stop leeching off your girlfriend you scumbag...

everyone is telling this guy he has what he needs but thats not always the case. if you want to only do electronic music sure you can get by with just a pc but, if you want to do any form of rock you need drums, drum mics, a small mixer, a guitar, a bass,a sound card, cymbals,a midi controller and a decent mic for vocals. thats guessing you plan on using your pc for all effects and recording. so if your just going to buy the lowest end decent equipment to make rock you will need to spend over 2 grand.
thats 100 for a crap guitar
100 for a crap bass
200 for a crap mixer
500 for a pc
500 for drums
200 for cymbals
200 for crap drum mics
200 for a decent vocal mic
150 for a so so sound card
and another 200 for a midi controller
this is assuming you would already have a monitor for your pc
