Oh man I want an intel mac badly now!
http://www.alphakanal.de
Stiwi, the creator of Automat for osx, has resumed his work on the highly anticipated (by me) 1.0 version of his synth.
Intel mac owners (i hate you

) have the luck to be able to test a very experimental beta build of this synth at the moment.
It may blow up your computer, but most likely it'll be the synth that blows you away.
Not advised to be used in a production environment.
There's a strong emphasis on the fact that this build is highly experimental, glitchy, unstable and cpu intensive.
Try it at your own risk.
Anybody wonna trade their macbook for a dual g5?

I downloaded it a few days ago, however it won't open in Live. Just crashes it every time. So I have not had the pleasure of trying it out yet. I was pretty excited to see it though. I wonder what his main DAW is that he tests it on?
I do love automat 0.4, but it is a bit buggy sometimes. Weird things happen every so often. It's funny trying to use it as the novation automap version, as all the numbers and letters are upside down on the plug-in. Oh well, can't complain with the price.
Looking forward to the release of 1.0 for sure, I think I noticed something about being able to import samples too.

Yeah, I saw this a couple of days ago too.. was very excited as I remembered it from my pre-mac days but like RJ Dubya, it crashes Live on my MacBook every time.. experimental it is ! I await a more stable build with baited breath

I just opened it in Logic. Played one note. The second time I hit random, it crashed the program. That one note sounded pretty cool though.

The ONLY thing that would make Automat better would be a Frequency Modulation knob. That's it. Otherwise, it's perfect. I can't wait.

Anyone know of a way to contact alphakanal? Just wanted to ask a question.

Some random thoughts:
1. I liked the old website better.

2. @ Dubya, I think his email is stiwi(a)alphakanal.de. Maybe not, though.

3. I also hope that he picks a damn color scheme for automat and sticks with it. Either that, or add skinning/color scheme support in the plug.
4. Anyone got a link to some good patch kits for this plug? I don't use it nearly enough in my compositions.

Some more thoughts...
5. Just loaded it up in live, crashed right away. =/ Time to file a bug report, I reckon...
6. I see that there is a "skins" directory in the distribution zipflie. Does the plugin support changing them on the fly (obviously, I couldn't see for myself

)
