Automation Virus TI Control on Session Clip. How?

Hi,
I Use my Acces Virus TI with the Virus Control plugin on Ableton.
Works perfect for me, only there's one thing I cannot get to work.
I can record automate controls like cutoff and resonance in Arrangement view. No problem there.
However, I can't get recording automation like cutoff and resonance on a single clip in Session view.
I followed the instructions. Put the OVR button on, start the clip and start automating. It seems that nothing is recorded. I even cannot see the controls in the midi clip envelopes settings.
What am I doing wrong here?
Any help is welcome!

Did you enable the controls you want to automate from within Virus Control by right clicking on them?

Do I have to if they work in the arrangement view?
What I do not understand is that in ararngement view, all automation is recorded in the track where the Virus TI control is plugged in and not on the individual tracks that point to the Virus TI track.
I'm not sure if this will ever work in the session view.
I midi enable the track on which I want to automate. (This is not the Virus TI track, but the track that points to the Virus TI track). Then I switch on the OVR button and press play. Normally automation should be recorded then, but nothing happens. Again in session view is does not work. In arrangement view it works good.

Hi,
Have you downloaded the new tutorial movies from Access' website? I produced them and covered automating the TI in Live.
Best,
Brian

Hi Brian,
Your videos are great, but I'm having the same automation problems. For eg, using the virus tutorial song. Twiddle the Virus knobs and you don't see the mii indicator in live light up.
What am I missing?

First, make sure the the TI is enabled for MIDI Remote in the preferences.
Then, make sure that you've enabled the parameter by right clicking on the parameter in Virus Control.
Keep in mind that the TI only uses MIDI for parameter automation when NOT using Virus Control - i.e., CC messages. Virus Control is a VSTi when it comes to automation, so treat it like any other Instrument for Clip envelopes or Track Envelopes.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Brian
P.s. FYI, I'm not an Access employee, just a freelancer.

It's really annoying, but I cannot get CLIP automation to work. I followed all your steps.
Could you please put an ableton file online somewhere in which you added automation to a single clip in Session view?
I know, it's pretty much to ask

I really enjoy making clips that have automation in them to make dramatic loops.

Doh!
I explained things a bit wrong when pertaining to Clip Envelopes. For whatever reason, if you want to record automation into a clip envelope, you must use MIDI. Turning knobs on a VSTi that doesn't send MIDI will not record. Virus Control is such a VSTi as far as I can tell.
So.... you can MIDI map a knob to the desired parameter via the Unfold button next to the plug-ins Bypass button - Virus Control in Remote Mode, or another Controller.
Or
Record your automation into Arrangement view and then copy the envelope and paste it into the Clip Envelope....
Hopefully this will be easier in Live 7
Cheers,
Brian
Of course, we can always pencil them in

When in draw mode, try holding down Command (Mac) / Control (Win) after you start drawing... you get free form drawing.
