Ok...so I KNOW now that if I want to import MP3's I'm going to have to go with the full version....but what about EXPORTING....can the full version render audio files to MP3? Surely I'm not the only one out there wanting to do this? Can you guys help me?

Thanks
Greg

sorry live doesnt export mp3s

it would probably cost more if it did as the mp3 codec does cost money to license.

that being said, get LAME encoder.

its command line based and its amazing and... free!

Thank you for the reply....and I apologize for being so uneducated in this regard...but if you could just help me a bit more....

So I would render my sets as .wav, then use a 3rd party product (LAME) to rip that to MP3?

Man...I'm just trying to justify going to Live....I've been useing Cubase for several years, and it's fine...but Live has so much more flexibility than the version of cubase I have it's not even funny.

Hope you don't mind me picking your brain...

thanks again
Greg

You download a LAME .dll file to use within another program, I use CDEX with the LAME .dll, for example, just drop the .dll file into the directory with the other encoding .dlls, check the help for the application.

.Wav sounds better than .mp3 any day, so really, Live is looking out for sound quality.

Dont' worry about it, this question comes up every week.

Thanks...got it. And sure, .wavs are much better quality, but I particiapate in some "jam forums" and for portability's sake we use MP3.....

I fugured it was probably an oft-asked question :D

Thanks again....unfortunately, you guys haven't even begun to see the last of me....

i probably should find an APP which makes use of LAME encoder as tone suggest, but personally i just use the command line.

export WAV then go to dos and type "LAME -b 320 mysong.wav"
