clip volumes hanging up?

Anyone run into this:
-Import clips, arrange them in scene-
-
Setup another scene with imported clips
-Play the 1st scene- loops scroll in the loop
explorer but I get no volume until I bump
the volume of the clip up and down- usually
after about 2.4 db increase the clip kicks in...
This just started lately -
Its a big file-
10 songs about 267 mb of clips-
Ableton 2.03
win xp
