Aberrant irrational Breakpoint copying

So often when I copy drag clips in the arrange with no automation, and the lock envelope buttons selected, random parameters are given a breakpoint at the beginning of the clip for no reason - very annoying, suddenly automation has been created for that parameter. Common culprits - Signal source on Utility, and all the parameters of the 4th band in the four band eq. Driving me nuts.

Anyon eles experience this?

OSX 10.2.8, 512 RAM, G4 TiBook, Live 3.0.2

missed the method to the madness - seems to happens on parameters that have been enabled (ie. a band selected in the EQ, a channel selected in the utility.) Not Random.

Well, I guess I was beginning to answer my own question. I get it now - any on-off parameters which have been changed from default, besides track enable, are given a breakpoint at the beginning of the clip in the arrange to retain the setting when lock envelopes i selected. I hadn't seen the connection - didn't realize Live was keeping track and mistakenly thought things were random.

WAAAIIIITTTT!!!!!!!

Here's what is annoying - it is creating these breakpoints for clips when lock envelopes is NOT selected. It is therefore introducing automation onto tracks when none should be created.

So the problem stands.

I've noticed it to with 3.01 on Mac with 9.2.2.

Yesterday I was creating a brand new Live Set which only had one track in which I was using a drum loop. I wanted a 1 bar gap every 16 bars which would eventually have a drum fill in it.

On the track I had the Live 4 band EQ inserted first and then the original Live compressor.

The original loop was 4 bars and I warped/looped it to 16 bars.

Everytime I copied and pasted the 16 bars I got a break point for the compressor at 1 of the first bar. The automation was for speaker on/off.

I hadn't introduced any automation at all in the first 16 bars. The only thing I did was experiment a few times with manually turning the compressor on and off to see whether I really wanted any compression.

I don't know if it is relevant but Live was ReWired to Cubase VST 5.2 at the time where there were about 12 audio tracks and no midi.

I will try and keep a closer log but there is no doubt this happens regularly. At first I didn't know what the hell was going on when I would copy and paste tracks and then suddenly there would be automation happening all over the place.

Now as a matter of practice I always check for new break points whenever I cut/copy/ paste.

I still love Live tho :D

yup. it happens to me regularly. i've gotten used to just selecting and hitting command+delete. cut envelopes.
