98bpm deep bluesy swingin electronica/house. imagine Francois k, Peter Gabriel, and John Mayer. this is the "radio mix" meaning it gets to the point fairly quick...

the beat was played live on machinedrum via with no quantization and got a wicked deep swing. Added a bit of 303... then went organic with piano and electric guitar. It felt good to actually mic up my amp... instead of the normal amplitude business. the vocals came really quick and though not improvised, were written and recorded on the spot. the ending came from some improvisations with the sidstation... like a bit of the white album put through an 8bit meat grinder.

hosted on the archive.org. I opted for 192kps mp3 this time for better streaming.

Its a good song however I think the timing of the drumming in the start let it down a little. Especially as you need the drums to hold the structure together.

Added you @myspace.

thanks for the feedback and the add. I think you mean the 4 bar intro ... it is different than the rest of the drums in the song... and maybe it has to go.

I got some great feeling buzzing through your song but yeah I "personally" didnt feel that drum bar, if you do decide to take it out, let me know where i can hear the updated version.

Cheers!

So I realize now that I had uploaded a slightly older, jankier mix of this track by accident. 8O thats what I get for publishing it in the wee hours.

I have updated the link
with a much more musical mix. it is still the radio mix... but much better.

I am working on a club mix which won't have that bare drum intro. The syncopation of the drums is funky and unquantized though, and is probably not very mixable... but hey... if you are using ableton... you have warp makers!

Wow I like that intro beat! Nice sounds. Some reason it reminds me of The Earlies. Beautiful guitar sound! I have always prefered micing to DI and PODs and stuff.

Top stuff! Nice and rough in places. 8)

thanks! I'll have to check out the Earlies. The guitar sound is a '64 Fender Jaguar through a Vox ac15cc with a vintage JBL speaker and JJ tubes. I swapped out the reverb tank on it with a larger accutronix tank also. hehe... i am a guitar geek.

I love my guitar stuff too. I have about 8 or 9 guitars, about 20 pedals/stompers but only one amp (marshall valvestate vs65r with real spring reverb) :D
