Ableton Forum

I’ve been reading this forum and seeing that there are some issues with Ableton. I haven’t installed Ableton on my laptop yet, due to my laptop getting fixed. Here’s what I have have: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?InvtId ... R&cpc=SUGG. RAM maxed to 2 GB.

Now I also use Reason, and Recylce. I was just wondering some potential problems I could see with using Ableton with my laptop. Also, can you discuss the deal with the latency issues and any possible solution to it. I am a PC user….. Another thing, what’s the issue with Rewiring Reason into Ableton? Is their latency issues their? If there are going to be too many issues I should get a desktop correct? Something like this maybe,

about what kind of issues are you talking about. I would say, that there is NO software out in the world without any problems.
Live works very well and runs fine on Laptops, Desktops, Pc's or Mac's and actual i use it still on non actual PC without any trouble. To make a choice between Laptop and desktop you have to think more about your needs. For sure, a desktop is always more flexible and i would say, that it is a pluspoint that you can use PCI Soundcards. But this depence also on your needs. You have to decide how many channels you need and so on. USB and Firewire solutions are nice, but i prefer to use the PC-Card from rme with my laptop.
If you don't want to or need to work with your PC in diffrent places, i would go for a desktop.

Try the demo. It is fully functional except that it has saving disabled.

It should work fine on your laptop. I have a two year old laptop with approximately similar specs and Live runs perfectly fine.

Since Ableton allows you to run two installations of Live, it won't have to be an either/or situation. Install Live on your laptop and if you feel you need more power, buy a desktop (or just upgrade your laptop).
